A Bituminous Coatings Service is a type of coating used to build a vapor-proof and flexible protective coat in accordance with its formulation and polymerization grade. Its flexibility and protection againts vapor and water can be influenced by the polymer grade as well as reinforcement of fiber.
The most common applications of bituminous coatings include areas that are beneath screed wet. It is an excellent protective coating and waterproofing agent, especially on surfaces such as concrete foundations.
Bituminous coating is also known as asphalt coating. This is then heated to heighten molecular activity as this makes the long chain of hydrocarbons slide and move. The result is a softer form of bitumen that is like a runny liquid in consistency. Bitumen is, therefore, near solid when under ambient temperature and in liquid form at eleveted temperatures.
Almost all bituminous coating are ready to use and free from solvent. These are chemical and UV-resistant, making them reliable protective coatings againts wear and corrosion. It can be applied through various methods using a roller, brush or sprayer. It works impressively in waterproofing surfaces, especially on surfaces that are in direct contact with seepage water, moisture and non-pressurized liquid or water.
Bituminous coating can be used both externally and internally on carbon steel pipes. It is usually black, and when applied properly, this coating offers outstanding cathodic protection needed for almost all structural steel pipes situated underground It is regarded as one of the least expensive ways to provide cathodic protection, making it suitable for casing pipes like in road bore.
Bituminous coatings are mainly composed of hydrocarbon molecules. Such molecules are elongated, making movement difficult. Therefore, bitumen is solid especially at ambient settings. However, it must be noted that it flows very slowly and is very viscous.
It produces paints or coatings with abrasion, thermal shock, impact and chemical resistance; suitable for sustained immersions in saline or freshwater.

It is commonly used to make high solids coatings or paints to provide moisture protection for underground systems like pipelines, water treatment facilities, clarifiers and tanks; it is further used in the sewage industry and for prevention from microorganisms. There are different types of paints: two-component paint, three-component paint, etc. The mixture is used in two-component paints.
Coal tar epoxy is made by the conversion of polyamide epoxy with a pitch of refined coal tar. It is mostly used on metal substrates and concrete in offshore, petroleum and industrial environments. The fluctuation of temperatures can make the product crystallize. It is stable at room temperature or at least 5°F above dew point. The environmental conditions affect the drying time of the product.
